Man Made Music Unveils Sonic Interface for Cannes' “Touchwall”

NYC-based music production company, Man Made Music, led by veteran composer Joel Beckerman, has just debuted a sonic user interface for use with the Nokia/Dell-backed creation, the “Touchwall,” debuting at the Cannes Lions Ad Festival this week. Commissioned by interactive agency, Schematic, Man Made Music developed a user-friendly sonic component for the 12-foot long by five-foot-high interactive touch wall.

Man Made Music, ranked third in Fast Company’s 2010 list of most innovative music firms, is a rare does-it-all kind of company that employs a talented staff of “young music and sound design talent, well-known composers, music supervisors, programmers, club DJ’s, musicologists and brand strategists.”

This eclectic group prides itself on its ability to help “tell your story” by finding your unique sound and voice, relying on the power of music and sound to be expressive. With work ranging from original compositions to sonic branding to live events, MMM definitely has a hand in many of the different sectors of the music industry.

The “Touchwall” is a giant interactive structure that incorporates audio, visual, and touch components that allows brands to connect with their audience in public environments. At Cannes, the wall is serving as an information hub for the whole festival, allowing users to access the complete show guide, view 3D maps, and find other details related to the event and its surrounding areas.
