Composer Leo Sidran of Amber Music (NYC & LA) composed the music for the new Lauri Faggioni-directed, 18-minute short film, “Wyckoff Place.”

Amber Music underscores diversity with "Wyckoff Place".

The film is one of eight shorts in “The Character Project,” produced by USA Network, RSA Films and Ridley & Tony Scott. In “The Character Project”, eight talented filmmakers were commissioned to create eight short films that capture quintessential American stories.  Wyckoff Place follows a group of children from diverse backgrounds in one Brooklyn apartment building, looking past their differences to play together and forge lasting friendships.

According to Amber Music, Sidran’s extensive documentary film scoring background aided him in creating a score that spoke to the innocence of the children without sounding too child-like. Sidran’s simplistic yet beautiful piano composition opens the film, accompanied by a child’s voiceover reading a poem. “I wrote a piece that was basically solo piano, a simple melody that could be played by a child but that has something a little more grownup inside the melody,” Sidran says of the overall score.

“The Character Project” launched online via USA’s website on May 13th and is also available via FOD, iTunes, mobile platforms, syndicated widgets and social media.  Lexus, on behalf of their new CT Hybrid, is acting as the presenting sponsor for the series, which also features exhibits in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago in custom-built screening pods.
