Infrasonic Sound Adds Mastering Engineer Dave Gardner
A midwestern mastering master has moved all the way to West.
LA-based audio and vinyl mastering studio Infrasonic Sound has announced the addition of engineer Dave Gardner to its staff. Gardner is known for being the founder of Magneto Mastering in Minneapolis, bringing over 17 years of experience to his new position at Infrasonic.
Gardner is in good company, joining an all-star staff that includes Infrasonic Principal Mastering Engineer Pete Lyman, engineers Phillip Rodriguez and Nick Townsend as a full-time member of their staff. Infrasonic is co-owned by Lyman and Jeffrey Ehrenberg.
According to Infrasonic, Gardner’s collaborative approach and diverse client roster – which spans punk, Americana, and jazz — made him an appealing addition to their roster.
Gardner’s collection of vintage Ampex Tape machines will also be put to use at Infrasonic. In addition, he will integrate his existing mastering setup into the studio at Infrasonic, including his ATC SCM 100A speakers. Infrasonic’s custom-built space at 1176 W. Sunset in LA’s Echo Park neighborhood houses a mastering suite, production suite and dedicated vinyl cutting room, equipped with Infrasonic’s vintage Scully LS-76 cutting lathe.
While on staff, he will continue working as Audio Consultant for Noiseland Industries, coordinating the audio components of the company’s vinyl manufacturing process. The position complements Infrasonic’s thriving vinyl mastering department.
Recent credits for Gardner include upcoming releases for Pkew Pkew Pkew (Gunshots), the forthcoming release from Mrs. Magician, Mean Jeans for Fat Wreck Chords and Ceremony’s “The L-Shaped Man.” Gardner has also mastered projects for The Hold Steady, Black Lips, Rocket from the Crypt, Hot Snakes, Trampled by Turtles and Drive Like Jehu.
