Glyph Launches New Line of Drives with Studio Mini
Glyph has set out to make an uncompromising external drive for engineers and producers on the go.
Glyph Production Technologies has recently kicked off an all-new Studio family of drives with the Studio Mini – a mobile storage drive “for the creative professional”. The small, bus-powered drive is a follow-up of the Glyph Portagig50, and is capable of USB 3.0, Firewire, and eSATA connections and promises speeds up to 420MB/s.
The Studio Mini features “smart” health monitoring in which custom sensors monitor for potentially problematic activity patterns. Its trim, industrial aluminum and steel enclosure is also used in the absorption and removal of unwanted heat from internal components. The drive is claimed to have near silent operation and comes with the same comprehensive warranty package GTP includes with the rest of its products.
Overall, it appears to be a solid, competent drive and a good start to a new line of products. It is available in capacities of 500 GB ($159), 1 TB ($199), and 2 TB ($359). Solid-state models are being released in February.
