Akai Pro MPC had originally released iMPC for the iPad and now all of the core capabilities are available on the iPhone. Apart from the hundreds of internal samples, the iMPC app contains a ton of features including sampling from the iPhone mic or internal iTunes library and even a new feature called 3D Perform control that uses the iPhone’s accelerometer to tweak effects parameters.

All the functionality of an Akai MPC is now available for the iPhone.

The app is available now for an introductory price of $2.99 from the App Store.

Here are more breaking news bullets from Akai:

Bring your iPhone or iPod touch into your creative workflow. iMPC includes everything you need to make beats whenever inspiration strikes, including sampling, built-in effects, and the ability to create new sequences and record and overdub beats.

Plus, with its all-new 3D Perform control, iMPC harnesses the power of your iPhone’s internal accelerometer, so you can twist, turn, and tweak sounds with motion. With more than 600 samples, 45 editable programs, 80 editable sequences, and iconic MPC workflow, iMPC is the first app to bring all the functionality of a classic Akai Pro MPC to your iPhone or iPod touch. Time correction from 1/8 note to 1/32T with variable swing, and Note Repeat from 1/8 note to 1/32T with latch control are also built in.

The app’s built-in sampler can record samples three different ways: using the mic on your iPhone, using the line input on your iPhone, or using the multi-touch turntable interface in iMPC to record samples directly from iTunes or other music libraries.
