Ableton Launches Texture Beats – New Partner Instrument by Flatpack
Need an engrossing new source for beats? The latest partner instrument from Ableton, Texture Beats, sounds like reason enough to get deeper into Live.
Texture Beats is available now for 49 Euro, or $62.97 at today’s exchange rates, and seems like a fair enough exchange to have one’s mind blown by beats.
Go right here to listen to some samples, check out the video below, and see what Ableton has this to say about their brand new instrument for Live:
“Texture Beats by Flatpack is a brand new Instrument for Ableton Live that provides dynamic and nuanced electronic drum sounds and analog textures.
Designed to let you take creative advantage of the Drum Rack format, Texture Beats features a set of Macro controls for blending in textures and customizing the sound of both the whole kit and individual drums. All samples respond musically to velocity and note length in a way that will bring your beats to life.
Texture Beats provides highly dynamic electronic drum sounds and analog textures. Each drum kit features a unique set of Macro controls for blending in textures and customizing the sound of both the whole kit and individual drum sounds.
In-depth
Texture Beats’ electronic drum sounds are divided into four futuristically tweaked-out Elektric kits and four ‘old-school drum computer with a twist’ Simplex kits. Designed to maximize the creativity of the Drum Rack format within Ableton Live, Texture Beats’ 8 original kits come in 4 variations – each of which contains a unique texture ready to be mixed in with the drum sounds. All kits are available in stereo and mono versions.
The punchy, dynamic sounds within Texture Beats have been programmed to respond to velocity in interesting ways – with dramatic differences between the lowest and highest velocity values. The drum sounds also vary according to sustain length. This means the longer a note is held down (a key on a keyboard or a pad on a pad controller), the further the sound develops. Varying the MIDI note lengths in a clip lets the drum sounds evolve and change organically.
Further processing of individual sounds as well as of effects, presets and routing can be accessed via the Drum Rack’s Chain and Device buttons. A detailed walk-through of all the customization options can be accessed via Help View in Live’s main menu.
Texture Beats was produced exclusively for Flatpack by leading sound designer and engineer, Alexander [Sasha] Lewis using modern and vintage analog equipment.
