Primary Wave Hires Manager Stephen Hutton To Help Build Rock & Pop Division
Primary Wave Music has hired music manager Stephen Hutton, founder of Uppercut Management, to help build Primary Wave Talent Management’s rock and pop divisions.
Hutton has helped build the careers of artists like Kid Rock, Big Kenny (Big & Rich), Better Than Ezra, The Heavy and Kill Hannah.
In his new role with Primary Wave, Hutton will sign developing and established acts, while also continuing to manage his current roster, which includes artists like metal band All That Remains, indie rock group Dom, southern rock band Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster, and Brooklyn disco band Escort.
Primary Wave’s Jason Fields, who joined the management team in 2011, has helped sign acts to their rock division such as Alien Ant Farm, Street Drum Corps, A Lion Named Roar, Alabama Capital and more. Primary Wave Talent Management’s new rock division will combine all artists from both rosters.
Additionally, Hutton will continue to look after his roster of writers and producers, who have yielded several #1 singles in the Rock, Pop and Country genres.
This new addition to the Primary Wave team follows the company’s recent expansions, opening a new office in the UK headed by Clive Black, as well as bringing in Electronic Dance Music expert Hosh Gureli to lead the company into the exploding world of EDM.
As previously reported – in September 2011, Primary Wave Talent Management also created a new venture with Chris Lighty’s Violator Management to form Primary Violator, which deepened the management company’s presence in the urban world with both veteran hip-hop managers Lighty and Michael “Blue” Williams now on the team.
Primary Wave Music’s current management roster includes artists ranging from CeeLo Green, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Eric Benet, Big Boi and Diggy, to Disney’s Trevor Jackson and pop duo DataBoy, to the electronic worlds of Audien, and PaperCha$er. Additionally Tom Maffei manages hit songwriter/producers like Brian Kennedy, The Underdogs, and Ali Tamposi, who wrote Kelly Clarkson’s hit “Stronger”.
