Brooklyn Studio Virtue and Vice Adds Neve 5315 Console
Virtue and Vice, the Brooklyn studio launched in 2011 by Anthony “Rocky” Gallo, has installed a 24-channel Neve 5315 console for production, mixing, and tracking.
A lucky Neve 5315 has a new home in Brooklyn.
According to Gallo, his newly added studio centerpiece is circa the late 1970’s, and loaded with 33115 mic pre/line/EQ modules, four auxiliary channels, and 4-buss. “I knew the board,” says Gallo. “It was at a few studios I had been at before, and it sounds great. It’s a perfect size and gives the quality I had to have if I were going to get a console.”
V&V also made another new addition in the form of a 1974 Mellotron 400 SM with 16 violins, Male/Female Choir, and a three violins tape set.
Gallo’s distinctive interior appointments are complementing the added gear and instruments. “The vibe in the studio has quickly been transforming — the wood bark treatment and overall atmosphere is my attempt to make it feel like I’m not locked inside a studio in NYC,” he explains. “The first year of Virtue and Vice went way better than I could have hoped for — its been the best year of my career by far, and I’m putting out twice as much material than the past.”
