The latest episode of Dubway Days debuted this week on BreakThru Radio, featuring singer-songwriter Ximena Sariñana and Brooklyn-based producer Alex Wong.

Brooklyn producer was happy to be put on the spot in the latest "Dubway Days".

Dubway Days‘ ongoing concept is , “Two Artists…One Day…One Song.” In this five-part episode, Sariñana and Wong begin a day of taping in the morning with no preconceived ideas for a song. As in other editions of the series, viewers get a front row seat to witness the false starts and eventual magic that evolves from the creative interplay.

Once the song is written, producers Mike Crehore and Al Houghton take the lead to engineer and orchestrate a polished recording of the song using the tools of Dubway Studios.

“The whole experience of Dubway Days is meant to be a challenge in itself,” Wong says. “It’s a way to go to a ‘songwriter gym’ to exercise. I really like that aspect of setting up limitations and testing yourself. The engineer got pushed, because it was a new approach for him and us — having the cameras on and not really having any idea about what would happen. I really like what we came up with, and it’s cool to have it caught on camera.”

In addition to being a Web TV celebrity, Wong is currently working at his Williamsburg facility, Angel House Studios, with Martin Rivas on a record slated for May release. “He’s a fantastic songwriter,” Wong says. “Martin’s a totally original character. He writes in a way that’s optimistic — never cynical, but never dumb.”

In addition, Wong is producing Warner Bros. act Delta Rae, also for a May release. “This six-piece band from North Carolina is a modern Fleetwod Mac,” notes Wong. “Four singers, vocal harmonies, with songs that range from epic to very intimate. We really went crazy with the production.”
