Wines That Rock (NYC) Releases Grateful Dead “Steal Your Face Red Blend”
NYC-based Wines That Rock, which creates and distributes rock-inspired wines, recently announced today the launch of their Grateful Dead “Steal Your Face Red Blend”.
The new offering joins WTR’s four rock ‘n’ roll varietals; Rolling Stones “Forty Licks Merlot,” “Woodstock Chardonnay,” The Police “Synchronicity Red Blend” and Pink Floyd’s “The Dark Side of the Moon Cabernet Sauvignon.”
Wines That Rock began releasing the labels in 2009 and a portion of the proceeds from every bottle sold are donated to the T.J. Martell Foundation, a non-profit organization, which supports innovative groundbreaking research for leukemia, cancer and AIDS.
Winemaker Mark Beaman of Mendocino Wine Co. melded a blend of Syrah, Petite Sirah, Zinfandel and Grenache to make “Steal Your Face.” According to WTR, the blend honors the Grateful Dead’s improvisational concerts via a celebration of Mendocino County’s bounty of diversity and freedom of experimentation.
The result is a wine with a “distinctively unique mix of black cherries and peppered bacon with a velvety vanilla and caramel finish.”
