Astralwerks (NYC) Signs Electro-Pop Artist Diamond Rings
NYC-based electronic/alternative label Astralwerks (Chemical Brothers, Air, Hot Chip, David Guetta, Pet Shop Boys) announced that it has signed electro-pop artist Diamond Rings. The signing is worldwide, excluding Canada.
On June 21st, 2011, Astralwerks will re-release Diamond Rings’ debut full-length album, Special Affections. Secret City Records (distributed by EMI) will continue to be the record label for Diamond Rings in Canada.
Diamond Rings was created in 2009 by Toronto-based artist/musician John O, first garnering attention with an inventive home-recorded video for his debut single “All Yr Songs“. The single later received “Best New Music” honors from Pitchfork. Subsequent, successful singles have included “Wait & See” and “Something Else”, which featured a dance cover of Milla Jovovich’s “Gentlemen Who Fell” on the B-Side.
In addition to the previous singles, “Special Affections” has seven new songs, in a package designed by John O.
