Hip Hop Legend DMC Will Showcase Playlist Contest at Tekserve Friday, July 23
Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, a Queens native, musical pioneer, and co-founder of iconic hip-hop group Run-DMC, will be appearing at Tekserve this Friday, July 23, from 4-7 PM.
The twenty-time Platinum recording artist and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee will be showcasing the new Playlist Contest that he’s launched with Apple Specialist Tekserve, as well as talking about music-making technology.
After DMC partnered with Tekserve, to promote his new single, “I Got More Songs Than You Do,” they created an interactive playlist contest, “DMC Wants 2 Know” at tekserve.com/audiovideo, where the Devestating Mic Controller himself blogs about technology and the changing shape of the music industry, plus judges the user-driven playlist contest.
“I Got More Songs Than You Do,” from DMC’s upcoming new album Block Music, was inspired by the iPod’s role as a 21st century boombox — DMC conceived of the contest as a way to connect with his fans and discover what they’re listening to. The video for the single was also shot entirely at Tekserve, NYC.
Full information about the contest can be found at tekserve.com/audiovideo.
