Waves Audio & Eddie Kramer Introduce HLS Channel & PIE Compressor
Waves Audio has teamed up with legendary producer/engineer Eddie Kramer to release the HLS Channel and PIE Compressor plug-ins. Kramer, best known for his work with Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and KISS, aided Waves in modeling the plug-ins to recreate some of the original hardware he used for his famous sessions at London’s Olympic Studios.
The HLS Channel is digitally reconstructed from Olympic Studios’ original Helios mixing console. In addition to modeling the EQs, Waves simulated the behavior of the console’s preamps as well as the actual VU meter.
To aid in these processes, the company managed to obtain the Helios from the Rolling Stones’ mobile truck, which was used on several of their recordings during the early 1970s.
The PIE Compressor was modeled on the original Pye Compressor used in various acclaimed British studios throughout the classic rock era. Even today, many consider the device to be one of the best buss compressors of all time. Along with all of the Pye’s abilities, the digital PIE features a VU meter that behaves identically to its analog equal.
The plug-ins are available in both TDM and Native formats, and waves is currently offering a discount for purchases of both the HLS Channel and PIE Compressor. You can purchase HERE.
