SonicScoop’s David Weiss On “Discs to Downloads” Panel Tuesday, 1/26
On Saturday January 16th, nonprofit arts organization No Longer Empty (NLE) opened its multimedia exhibition “Never Can Say Goodbye” at the former location of Tower Records on Broadway and 4th Street.
So far, the event has lived up to its mission of celebrating Tower’s historic role as a hub for musicians and music fans to meet, hang out, and share information, while also recognizing the major changes in music distribution resulting from the development of the Internet and other digital technologies.
As an integral part of “Never Can Say Goodbye”, a music industry panel discussion titled Discs to Downloads: New Directions in the Music Industry will take place on Tuesday January 26th from 7-9 pm. The panel will feature SonicScoop Co-Editor/Co-Founder David Weiss, along with music industry attorney Elliot Groffman (Dave Matthews Band, Jay-Z), artist manager Kevin Patrick (Matt & Kim, Lord Warddd, Vivian Green), David Goodman (President of CBS Interactive Music Group), and NLE artist Ted Riederer.
The focus of the discussion will be how the Internet and its related technologies have heavily impacted and transformed the arts—specifically contemporary music production, listening, and consumption.
