MSR Studios Hosts Pat Metheny, Alicia Keys, Beyoncé
Pat Metheny, Alicia Keys, and Beyonce were a few of the many artists that had fall/winter sessions at MSR Studios’ two locations: MSR North in Times Square, and MSR South on 36th street.
Pat Metheny was at MSR for five weeks to record his upcoming album. The session was engineered by Joe Ferla and Hyomin Kang. Metheny, who typically plays between 100 and 200 shows every year, returns to NYC for a two night stint at Town Hall in May, 2010.
Alicia Keys was at MSR to record a song featuring Beyoncé for her album The Element of Freedom, which debuted at #1 December 15th on J Records. The release coincided with a broadcast on Fuse TV of Keys’ December concert at Nokia Theater. The session was produced by Swizz Beats, and engineered by Ann Mincieli, assisted by MSR’s Nick Banns.
Banns also assisted on a session with Nas, and Swizz Beats produced a new track for Jamie Foxx, both at MSR.
Also recording at MSR: America Idol runner-up David Archuleta, Rihanna, and G-Unit. The studio also held a listening party for Bone Thugs-n-Harmony’s new album, as well as a reception for Berklee College of Music alumni.
