On Tuesday, December 8, SSL and Alto Music will present the NYC installment of the SSL Foundations of Music Production Tour at Kampo Studios. For one night only, from 7-9 PM, SSL and Alto will gather top technologies and music production talent in a “control room clinic” and panel discussion to demonstrate and discuss what it takes to succeed in the music business today.

Hosted by SSL with Alto NYC’s Shane Koss, who specializes in studio system design and integration for composers and producers, Foundations of Music Production will be an evening of constructive discussion and networking for NYC-area recording, mix and audio post engineers, composers and producer/artists.

The clinic will cover some of the most widely pondered technical topics in modern pop music production, such as: Summing in-the-box and outside-of-the-box: Understanding the science and sound behind this controversial topic; Transient response and SuperAnalogue: How to get the “big record” sound out of your DAW; Core Audio Pipeline and the PCIe standard: Is zero latency possible in a Native DAW?; and Hybrid Processing of Plug-ins: What are the differences between native- and hardware-driven audio plug-ins?

Meanwhile, a panel discussion in the live room will cover trends in music production and business. Panelists will include producer/engineer/composer Britt Myers (Chairlift, Yeasayer), SonicScoop co-founder, writer and commercial music producer Janice Brown (me!), and Grammy-winning producer/engineers Patrick Dillett (David Byrne, Mike Doughty) and Mario McNulty (David Bowie, Laurie Anderson), talking about how to get great creative work and how to build one’s business in this challenging time in music and in the competitive NYC market.

This event is free so come on down and check out the tech clinic, join in the discussion, and get your networking on! RSVP to Shane Koss ASAP to reserve your spot: shane@altomusic.com.

We hope to see you there!
