DJ Spooky (third from left) at the Melbourne International Arts Festival performance of his Terra Nova: Sinfonia Antarctica.

Conceived, composed and performed by DJ Spooky/Paul D. Miller, Terra Nova is a multimedia performance work based around Miller’s field recordings in Antarctica that explore the acoustic qualities of ice.

Members of the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) will perform with Miller’s hip-hop and sample-infused soundscape at BAM, creating an electronic symphony as live video projections of historic, scientific and geographic material reconstruct Antarctica. The performance work ponders man’s relationship with nature, climate change, pollution, and the way art, music and literature can raise awareness about these issues.

DJ Spooky’s giving away two tickets for each show to fans who’d like to write a poem about Antarctica and climate change, to be judged by Miller and a panel of http://www.djspooky.com poetry experts. Submit a poem at ticketgiveaway@djspooky.com.

Or, to purchase tickets, go to http://www.bam.org/view.aspx?pid=1273
