Sex Mob, Eric Krasno & More Play Scotty Hard Benefit Thursday Night at Sullivan Hall
Sex Mob, DJ Logic, Eric Krasno of Soulive and Otis Grove among others will play a benefit show this Thursday at Sullivan Hall for Scott Harding, aka Scotty Hard, a Grammy-winning producer/engineer who was paralyzed in a car accident in Febuary ’08, coming home from a late-night mixing session. Scott spent three months in Bellevue Hospital, undergoing an operation to fuse his broken T5 vertebra, heal his fractured rib and clavicle, and begin his physical rehabilitation. Since mid-May he has continued his rehab and physical therapy at Beth Abraham in the Bronx. As ever, his spirits are high and his good humor inexhaustible.
Scott has dedicated the past 20 years to creating and co-creating some very cool music, working with the John Spencer Blues Explosion, Wu-Tang Clan, Black Sheep, Medeski, Martin & Wood, the Charlie Hunter Trio, Crash Test Dummies, DJ Logic, Prince Paul and many, many more. Unfortunately, a life so devoted to artistic production does not always spell financial security. Like many artists and musicians, Scott did not have health insurance at the time of his life-altering injury.
Scott applied for Medicaid in February, but his application is still pending. As of now, the outlook for insurance coverage (from Medicaid and from legal action) is uncertain. His friends have established a Special Needs Trust, The Scotty Hard Trust, to receive donations and administer to his immediate and long-term care needs. It is urgent that funds be raised to secure Scott’s financial security and well-being.
So, come out to this show on Thursday night, a benefit for Scotty Hard.
