Next Methods of Mayhem Album: You Can Collaborate with Tommy Lee
Roadrunner Records (NYC) and Methods of Mayhem has announced an interactive concept for an album collaboration. The Tommy Lee-fronted ensemble is inviting fans, musicians, maniacs and anyone with a great idea to help record their upcoming album. Participants will also have a chance to perform with the band at their record release show. The album, entitled Public Mayhem, is set for release in early 2010.
To watch Tommy Lee and Producer Scott Humphrey explain the concept’s inception, visit either of the following sites: http://www.thepublicrecord.com or http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/video/view.aspx?songID=2626.
Starting on October 5th, isolated instrument tracks, or stems, will be posted on the website http://www.thepublicrecord.com. Participants can download the stems and add their own musical ideas, including original recordings, song mixes, arrangements and more. Stems will be available via a wide range of formats including RiffWorks, WAV, Logic, GarageBand, ProTools and the Four Track 3.0 iPhone application.
A charitable donation will be made on behalf of all participants to the MusiCares Foundation®. Established by The Recording Academy® in 1989, MusiCares® provides emergency health and human services and addiction recovery resources to music people in need.
