Native Instruments and Tim Exile Give Us…The Finger
The Finger is a new keyboard-controlled performance effects processor developed by Native Instruments with Warp Records electronic artist Tim Exile
Based on NI’s Reaktor technology, The Finger ($79 via NI Online Shop) is a tool for intuitive sound mangling and live remixing in the studio and on stage. Incorporating samplers, filters, delays, reverbs, ring modulation and many other effects algorithms, The Finger works via MIDI keyboard, where every key represents a different effect type and setting, so users can play The Finger like an instrument.
The Finger also operates as a plug-in within any host sequencer, and within NI’s Kore 2 system, with the Macro Controls of the Kore interface providing further sound tweaking options. And inside Reaktor 5, users can setup individual custom effects for The Finger.
Tim Exile’s “The Finger EP,” derived from live performances using the software, is available for free download via his new blog, “The Now Wave.”
