Remix Pezzner's "Valldemossa" and Win
A contest to remix Pezzner’s song “Valldemossa” has been extended through the end of this month.
Sponsored by UK-based electronic music label, Freerange Records, Ableton, digital music store Dancetracks, NYC electronic music production school Dubspot and more, the contest will have 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners taking home prizes from those and other sponsors. Multiple entries are allowed. Listen to the original here.
The contest features a Live-ready set with audio files warped and arranged for easy remixing. If you don’t have Live 8, you can try out the set with Ableton’s Live 8 demo version or you can use your favorite production application to remix the track using the WAV components in the zip package. Download everything you need to get started, here.
Entries will be judged by Dancetracks, Freerange Records and Pezzner, in addition to the public vote, via the contest website.
First prize-winning remix will be released digitally on Freerange and featured on Dancetracks and the remixer will receive a mixing and mastering session at Dubspot, Ableton Live 8, M-Audio CX5 Studiophile monitors, Pro Tools M-Powered 8 and Torque Conectiv, Glyph PortaGig 800 hard-drive, 20 GBs of sounds from Cluster Sound and more.
Pezzner says: “I would to thank everyone entering this contest for taking time to remix this tune. Valldemossa’ was inspired initially by a tape recording I found of a boys choir recorded circa 1982, which was piped through an analog tape delay. The ending result of this tape recording was outstanding and left me with a gold mine of sounds to pick from. I built this song using a handful of my favorite tools, FL Studio, Ableton Live, Native Instruments Battery, Reaktor, D16 Phocyon, some sounds from the Mellotron M400 tape banks, Klanglabs Stompbud collection and Mixed in Key (as well as some keen direction from master and chief, Jimpster). Feel free to let loose and let your inner artist speak loudly. We’re excited to hear what you do!”
